Score study coaching

$60.00

Few things are more exciting for a conductor than opening a new score. It’s the start of a journey—full of possibility, imagination, and the promise of a meaningful performance.

But that first moment can also feel overwhelming. Where do you begin? What actually matters? How do you turn notes on a page into something you can teach, shape, and communicate in rehearsal?

We’re told that score study is essential—but rarely shown how to do it in a clear, practical way. Most training focuses on gesture and rehearsal technique, leaving conductors to figure out the preparatory work on their own.

That’s where this work begins.

Score study isn’t abstract—it’s a concrete, learnable process. When approached intentionally, it leads to faster rehearsals, clearer musical decisions, and more compelling performances.

In these one-on-one coaching sessions, you’ll learn how to approach any score with clarity and confidence. Together, we’ll work on music you’re actually preparing and develop a process you can use again and again.

We’ll focus on:

• A clear, step-by-step approach to comprehensive score study
• The three essential stages: marking, learning, and interpreting
• How score study directly shapes gesture, rehearsal strategy, and musical outcomes
• Practical tools and reference materials tailored to your repertoire and ensemble

You’ll leave each session with concrete strategies—and a score you understand more deeply and can lead more effectively.

Bring a piece you’re preparing, and let’s get to work.
